Airsoft

What is Airsoft?

Airsoft is a modern combat style sport and recreational hobby.  Airsoft Electronic Guns, or AEG’s fire 6mm spherical plastic pellet under a legal limit specified in Irish Law.  Participants eliminate opponents by firing at them until hit.  Participants typically employ the use of varying types of Airsoft guns which are replicas of real world firearms (such as the AK47, M16, Steyr AUG etc.), tactical gear, and accessories used by modern military and police organizations.

Fundamentally, the objective of an airsoft game is to hit and eliminate the enemy team.  Unlike paintball, which leaves visible marks on clothing, hits are based on an honour system.  Some common game variations include Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, and Close Quarters Battle.

Military Simulation or MILSIM for short, is a growing theme within the sport that separates airsoft from other outdoor activities.  Multiple objectives to complete within timeframes, tasks to be allocated, missions to be completed and problem solving under fire from an apposing force make airsoft an immersive combat experience.

The sport can test and forge good communication skills, teamwork, leadership and problem solving in a fun, safe and controlled outdoor setting.

Site Safety and Rules:

Take Your Hits!

Airsoft is a game of HONOUR. This is the fundamental ethos of our sport! Take your hits with a sense of honesty and pride. Do not ruin somebodys day by cheating.

With this in mind, Bellurgan Park marshals will not tolerate repeat offences and offenders will be removed from site for the day without refund. Repeat offenders may be asked not to return.

-If you believe another player is cheating bring it to the attention of a marshal. Reports of cheating will be taken in confidence and players may come to a marshal in their own time.

-If a marshal receive’s a complaint against a particular player they will deal with it accordingly. Do not shout at or direct verbal abuse at other players for not taking hits (or any other reason), leave it for the marshals to deal with.

Remember that it is no use complaining about an issue after the event, there is little we can do about it then. But we can deal with it during the event itself!

-Always try to give other players the benefit of the doubt and keep a cool head.

Do not disgrace yourself or your team by showing aggressive behaviour towards other players.

No Littering:

Please use the bins provided in the safe zone for any rubbish you have or give it to a marshal and they will dispose of it, if there is no bin or marshal near please put your rubbish in your pocket and dispose of it later.

AEG Safety:

All AEGs must be transported to the site in a concealed case or box and remain on safe, with the mag out in the safe zone! Please do not fire your AEG in the safe zone.

All AEG’s will be chronographed prior to games to ensure they are under the legal limit in acordance with Irish law

(328fps with .20g bbs or 1 Joule)

Goggles and safety glasses must remain on at all times in the gaming area. In case of fogging up, needing to remove eye protection call over a marshal immediately to assist! In the event of an emergency, call out “Emergency” and a marshal will assist you.

Site Safety

Do not climb on or damage any of the structures or stone walls on site.

Please do climb any trees.

Stay within the designated site boundary. The boundary is defined as the wall that surrounds the forest unless otherwise stated.

Boots with ankle support must be worn.

Physical:

If a participant is feeling uncomfortable or too hot they should pace themselves! Take up a defensive position and/or rest. The action will eventually come your way. The game is only as physically demanding as you make it. Feel free to take a break whenever it suits you.

Airsofting, like many outdoor activities, comes with a certain level of risk involved and may require relative physical exertion. Participation includes inherent risks that may not be avoided. All participation is voluntary and therefore participants assume all possible risks involved.

Bring everything you will need up to the gaming area in the morning including your lunch, ammo and spare batteries. If you do not have the means to carry your own gear up we will help.

Airsoft Game Rules

Hits:

If a player is hit anywhere, including the players equipment, it counts as a hit.

Gun hits or ricochets do not count on regular skirmish days.

Freindly fire counts as a hit.

Avoid head shots when you can.

Raise your hand high and call “hit” loud and clear when hit.

When re-spawning keep your hand raised high in the air so other players know you are hit.

No Overkill:

There is no need to riddle your opponent on full auto! One shot is all it takes to eliminate a player. As soon as their hand goes up or you hear “hit” cease firing at that player, likewise it is up to the hit player to call out their hit loud and clear.

No Blindfiring:

Dont put your AEG around a corner or over a wall without looking down the sights as you may be unloading into another players face.

Bang Rule:

If you come into very close contact with the enemy you may (at players discretion) shout “Bang” instead of firing. Players who have been ‘bang killed’ have the choice to take the hit and save themselves being shot at close range.

Bang kills are a courtesy and do not have to be taken, however in the interest of sportsmanship we encourage players to take them as a hit.

Dead men dont talk:

When you are hit and/or re-spawning do not pass on any information to other players whether it is verbal or non verbal!
